All students of the Bachelor of Medical Studies can apply for external scholarships during their first year. Student numbers are strictly limited, and places must be accepted in the year for which they are offered. Successful applicants who find they cannot accept the offered place are welcome to re-apply at any future time.
Approximately 50% of applicants will be invited to complete Step 2 of the admissions process. The two main differences between HPSP and USU are your status in relation to the Military and type of school. HPSP students are commissioned as officers in the Individual Ready Reserve , whereas USU students are active-duty officers, so they will spend more time in a military environment. Either way, medical students are expected to finish their training in the same amount of time as civilian students and will not be pulled away from medical training for deployments or similar military responsibilities.
